Zelda Kaplan (June 20, 1916 - February 15, 2012) was a fixture in New York’s art, nightclub and fashion worlds. Kaplan was also involved in philanthropic and humanitarian efforts, making frequent trips to Africa to lobby for women’s rights.
Kaplan died in 2012 at the age of 95 after collapsing at a runway show for designer Joanna Mastroianni’s new collection at Lincoln Center inNew York City during the city’s twice yearly fashion week.
Kaplan had also once posed as a subject for a work by the photographer Andres Serrano.
